Youth Group
What We Are All About

Youth Group is all about making lasting lifelong relationships with fellow members that will empower your Youth to grow in their faith and relation-ship with God. We strive to accomplish this through fun engaging activities that help apply the gospel lessons and other biblical stories to real life events.

Through this program we strive to accomplish four main goals in our studies:

1. Integration of Youth with the total Body of Christ

2. Emphasis on Building Youth as disciples

3. Developing Future Church Leaders

4. Increasing Youth’s commitment to Christ

When We Meet

We have two Youth programs, one for our middle school students (5th-8th graders) and one for our high school students. The middle school group meets Sunday nights from 5:45-6:45p.m. The high school group meets Sunday nights from 7:00-8:00p.m. At 6:45p.m. we have a "snack time" with both groups.

On the third Sunday of every month we have a joint Youth Group with both groups. We typically do an outing or an activity of some kind, such as hiking, going to a movie, having lunch, etc.

We have six big activities throughout the course of the year the Youth participate in:

Ice Cream Social

The ice cream social is our kick off for the year where we introduce new members and our upcoming 5th graders. This is an evening of ice breaker and team building activities where the group gets to know each other.

Lock-Ins

We do two lock-ins at the church, one in the spring and one in the fall. A lock-in is where your Youth is locked in the church for the whole evening for a night of fun and games followed with a midnight worship service. In the morning we serve them breakfast before sending them home.

Winter Retreat

In January over Martin Luther King we spend the weekend at Hemlock Haven in Hico, WV for our winter retreat. We spend the weekend learning about God, building relationships, relaxing and having fun. The high school students are divided up into two groups and are responsible for two of the four lessons that are covered that weekend.

Mission Trip

In June 2017 we will do a mission trip to Russell, Kentucky through an organization called Reach. In 2016 the Youth went to Hurricane, WV and helped paint people's homes and build decks. The 2015 trip found the Youth in Peru where they helped paint a church and did a mini VBS for the children there.

Youth Sunday

We do two big Youth Sundays, one in the spring and one in the fall. These are Youth led services where the Youth put on a skit for the sermon, help prepare for the service (i.e., fold bulletins, set-up the sanctuary, etc.), and serve as greeters, ushers and liturgist.

Boat Trip

The boat trip is our send-off for graduating seniors. We spend an afternoon out on Cheat Lake tubing and swimming before having a potluck luncheon.
